BEIJING · PRIVATE HALF-DAY EXPERIENCE

Chinese Zodiac & Ru-Style Porcelain Experience

Zodiac symbolism, Ru-style porcelain, and traditional Chinese gua imagery—with a personal zodiac piece to take home.

Begin with your Chinese zodiac sign, then explore Ru-style porcelain through colour, touch, sound, and craftsmanship.

You will learn the character connected with your birth year and add a personal mark to a porcelain piece by hand, inside a privately arranged Beijing cultural setting.

The experience builds towards a symbolic porcelain-breaking ritual and a guided interpretation of traditional Chinese gua imagery. At the end, each guest receives a Ru-style porcelain piece representing their own zodiac sign to take home.

We will confirm the venue, availability, final activity format, and price before payment. No payment is taken on this page.

The Experience

A personal introduction to Chinese zodiac culture and porcelain.

  1. Find your Chinese zodiac sign

Learn the basic story of the twelve zodiac animals and identify the Chinese character connected with your birth year.

The zodiac offers a personal way into Chinese language, family traditions, and everyday cultural symbolism.

  2. Explore Ru-style porcelain

Observe how the glaze responds to light, feel the surface, and listen to the sound of the porcelain.

The host introduces how colour, glaze, firing, and craftsmanship shape the restrained character associated with Ru-style porcelain.

  3. Understand the character and symbolism

Learn how the written character connects with the zodiac sign, and explore some of the cultural qualities traditionally associated with it.

  4. Write your character by hand

Use a guided porcelain-writing tool to add your zodiac character and a personal year mark to the porcelain.

No previous calligraphy, painting, or Chinese-language experience is required.

  5. Break, interpret, and take something home

Under the host’s guidance, take part in a carefully supervised symbolic porcelain-breaking ritual. The host then introduces the traditional Chinese gua imagery associated with the ritual and explains its cultural meanings.

The experience closes with a Ru-style porcelain piece representing your own zodiac sign, prepared for you to take home.

Why This Experience

Why this experience feels different.

Personal from the beginning

Your zodiac sign and Chinese character give you an immediate, personal way into the experience.

Porcelain understood through the senses

Colour, glaze, touch, and sound make the material easier to understand than a lecture alone.

A personal piece to take home

The writing and closing ritual give each guest a direct role, followed by a Ru-style porcelain piece representing their own zodiac sign to keep.

A setting with its own character

The experience is held in a privately arranged Beijing cultural venue, where architecture, privacy, and atmosphere become part of the day.

Limited-Access Settings

The setting is part of what you are booking.

The experience is arranged inside selected Beijing cultural spaces that are normally used for privately hosted gatherings and opened by prior arrangement.

Because porcelain writing and the closing activity require suitable tables, preparation, and safety conditions, the final setting is confirmed according to group size, availability, and activity requirements.

Not every venue is suitable for every activity format. Your confirmed setting will be shown before payment.

Venue Options

Five settings, matched to the booking.
